Doug Moreland

You might wonder "what Country Music has to do with chainsaw art"? The short answer is "everything" - if your name is Doug Moreland and you are an accomplished artist in both genre's. All of us have a story to tell, but you'll have to admit that Doug's is a tad more fascinating than most.

Doug owns a store in Manchaca, Texas called Cattlelacs, where he sells everything from his superb Texas Music to Chainsaw Art. The carving of "Uncle Sam" at left stands twelve feet tall and overlooks his store.

Stihl he makes music

In addition to his being a world-class carver, Doug is an accomplished country music artist. Doug started out young playing the fiddle with many different acts, eventually breaking out as a solo singer and songwriter in 1999. He traveled about entertaining crowds with only a guitar & a sidekick, Jalapeño the fiddling and singing dog. The duo even appeared on Animal Planet

and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno! In 2004, Doug arranged a full band backup, evolving into "The Doug Moreland Show", a fine 5-piece country swing band. His newest arrangement of highly talented musicians debuted as an opener for Willie Nelson in March of 2005. He has five albums to date, his latest CD release "Everybody Knows My Name". The band has recently recorded a new single to be released to Texas radio this month (March, 2006)!
